Abaco Snorkeling

Abaco has a cruiser reputation for some of the best snorkeling in the islands and agree. Our first stop was at Lynyard Cay at the north end of the Abaco chain. Sandy Cay is a dingy ride away to a very large reef that produced some amazing sealife. Immediately after entering the water Tom spotted a sea turtle and three spotted ray.

There were big patches of elk horn coral and beautiful sea fans that waved back and forth.

The tropical fish were abundant and got very, very close to you.

Some of them also blend in nicely with their surroundings.

A sand shark was napping on the bottom,

And small angel fish enjoyed feeding on the line that attached the mooring ball to our dingy.

Unfortunately that was the only snorkel adventure we had due to, you guessed it, weather. But this one was stellar!  Abaco is definitely worth another visit.
